AWARDS & CITATIONS

Outback Engineering was awarded the 2015 "Top Small Firm Project Award for Engineering Excellence" by the American Council of Engineering Companies of MA for site design on the Summer Star Wildlife Sanctuary."

Located in Boylston, MA, Summer Star Wildlife Sanctuary is home

to the sustainably–designed Trailhead House and nature trails that

traverse the site’s 45-acre, protected, forested terrain that adjoins

other conservation land.  Completed in September 2014, Outback

Engineering was responsible for surveying, site design, permitting,

and construction support. Working closely with the client and

project team, Outback implemented many low-impact, sustainable

techniques, such that the project received LEED Gold Certification.

Since Outback received its award in front of a packed audience at

the ACEC Awards night in March 2015, the Summer Star project and

its design and construction team have received other awards.

The Trailhead House has been open since September 2014 and

provides nature educational programs for visiting school children

and is also open to the public.  Innovative site design includes the

use of a septic system with composting toilets and drip-dispersal

leaching system; drainage system with rain gardens, permeable

pavement and other groundwater recharge techniques; rainwater

from the roof is harvested for re-use in underground fire protection

and irrigation tanks; and the building has an Earth Roof and

solar panels among other energy-efficient innovations.

September 2017 - Outback Engineering received a special citation from the State House of Representatives, acknowledging its success and celebrating 20 years in business.

TESTIMONIALS

From a Bridgewater Developer and Builder - It is my pleasure to recommend Jim Pavlik and Outback Engineering. I've known Jim for approximately 10 years and have engaged his firm on a number of projects that include a 15 lot single family subdivision in Berkley, a 12 lot duplex subdivision in Bridgewater, a 36 unit condo project in Bridgewater, and a 20 unit townhouse project in Duxbury. I would rank him as one of the best engineers I've ever worked with. Jim is innovative with good analytical and communication skills.I would not hesitate to use Outback Engineering on my next project.

From a local developer - I would strongly recommend Jim for your next Land Use project. I have worked with Jim and Outback for more than 10 years and his ability from Planning through the Public Hearings processes, up through approvals and beyond in some instances when appealed has been nothing short of exemplary. He has fantastic social skills, an uncanny ability to negotiate firmly and fairly (always in his Client's best interest) is very rare. His experience at the local, state and federal level is equal and unparalleled in my 25 years. Whether your needs are in Land Planning, Design, Waste and Operations and Maintenance: You would be wise to consult, at a minimum.

From Delphic Associates - Outback Engineering has been the engineers on our development projects and that of many of our clients. The firm is a medium size engineering firm, big enough to get the task done, but not too large that you get lost in the engineering shuffle between departments in larger firms. His knowledge of MGL 40B and the program requirements has been especially helpful.

From a local banker and cranberry grower - I have known and done business with Jim for many years. In all my dealings I find him engaging, attentive, creative, knowledgeable and experienced. I currently recommend people to do business with Jim and plan on continuing to do so.

From a Plymouth Real Estate Broker - James is truly an expert in his field. He performed engineering services with precision, in a timely manner and my client was pleased with the results.

From a Self-Storage Facility Owner - Outback did a superlative job on the design of my facility. When other places in town were flooding, my drainage system performed admirably. I receive lots of praise for how great my site looks.

From Anonymous Client - Dear Jason and team, we can’t thank you enough for all of your work on getting our home pulled out of HMA’s new flood zone. Thank goodness John recommended you to us. We certainly could not have done any of this on our own. If the chance arises, we will certainly recommend Outback Engineering to anyone.
